Sweetheart Tees

We have had a full house over the last few days and so I took the opportunity to do some Valentine's Day crafts with my granddaughter, Patience.

These cute t-shirts are the perfect craft to make when you only have a couple hours to spend. They are super quick and super easy.

I bought these tees on sale for $3.00 each. I used a few fabric scraps, some fabric paint, heat 'n bond, a little ribbon and a tiny button.

So what you have to do is wash and dry your tee. Decide on a design and gather your supplies. Cut your shapes out of fabric and heat 'n bond by hand or using a die cut machine. Following directions on heat 'n bond, adhere heat 'n bond to back of fabric shapes.

Arrange pieces in place on tee and adhere according to heat 'n bond directions.

Using fabric paint, line the shapes all around making sure to get paint on both the fabric shape and the tee to seal the edges. You will want to put a piece of thin cardboard or something similar between the layers of your tee while painting so that the paint doesn't soak through to the back.

For my red tee I arranged hearts along the collar just slightly below the top edge. Once the paint was dry I trimmed the top edge of the tee along the paint line. This made a scalloped edge. You can enlarge the picture to see it, but you can also see how shaky I was when I painted, lol.

For my white tee I just added a grosgrain ribbon with the tiniest button in the center. I sewed it to the front edge.
