Folded Fabric Flower Brooches

Well, I have finally completed some of these folded fabric flower brooches. They are lots of fun to create. So many combinations and different ways to use them. I have a few listed on my Etsy shop.

They are really cute on lapels, hats, tote bags, belts, scarves, or anything really. Could even use one instead of a bow on a package.

I had fun naming each one too. I named a couple after some pretty important people in my life. One for my only granddaughter, my beautiful and sweet Patience. The other for my very dear friend, Mary, who passed away last year.

I used a Baskets of Flowers charm pack by Mary Engelbreit to make my Mary brooch. I also added some cute little ribbon accents to it.

I would love to take some custom orders for these. The choices for colors, sizes, and accents are endless. And I make them into hair clips, headbands, ponytail holders, even refrigerator magnets.

And the Winner is....

We have a winner to my 1st ever giveaway!!

I know I was supposed to announce the winner last night, but....My husband decided to do some much needed yard work and pulled (or attempted to pull) a large bush out and with his shovel he quickly severed my cable. So I had no internet until just a little while ago when the repair man came. Oh those husbands, gotta love 'em.

I was also unable to wish everyone a happy Mother's Day, so better late than never: HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Anyway back to the news at hand. The winner of my giveaway, which includes a Moda charm pack and one of my folded fabric flowers is...

Patricia at Vintage Linen Treasures. Congratulations Patricia.

Thanks to everyone who visited, commented, and followed my blog. I appreciate it. I hope you continue to do so.

Here are a few of the squares in the charm pack that Patricia will receive. It is called Soiree by Lila Tueller for Moda. It is a beautiful collection. I also have these available at my Etsy shop.

And here is a picture of the brooch Patricia won. These are a new item I am developing and offering at my Etsy shop. I will offering these in various designs, sizes and colors, they will be made into brooches, refrigerator magnets, hairclips, headbands, and whatever else I come up with.

Flower Power Hipster

Soon to be added to my Etsy shop is this cute little hipster bag. The colors are very bold and bright, kinda neon really.

It is fully lined with a prequilted fabric. It has a pocket inside, a covered button with elastic tab. The strap is about 50" so you can wear it across the body or you can tie a knot in it for a shorter length. It measures about 8"x9" with a 2" gusset.

And lastly, this is called Good Vibrations by Maria Triad for South Sea Imports. It has 12 fat quarters.

Swanky Hipster Messenger Bag

My daughter asked me one day to make her a hipster type messenger bag with a very long strap to wear across the body. I thought about that for awhile and came up with this, my version of a messenger bag, a mini messenger bag.

It is kinda cute if I do say so myself. You can grab it when you are just running out for a few errands or maybe going to the movies, a bike ride, for a walk, or a casual night out. It's perfect when you don't have a lot to carry.

I used the Swanky fabric line Jelly Roll by Chez Moi for Moda Fabrics to construct this bag. It is fully lined although it is a very light and thin bag, you'll hardly know its there.

It has a velcro closure and about a 52" strap so you can wear it across the body. The bag measures approx. 8"x8".

It is now available at my Etsy shop.

Quilter's Dozen

I have something new I've been working on and hope to offer on my Etsy shop soon. These are fat quarter bundles of various fabrics, all 100% cotton.

And in the Moda style, I have packaged them in a bakery box and am calling them a "Quilter's Dozen", although there are only 12 fat quarters, not 13. I also have charm squares in the same fabric that I might throw in with it.

I listed one of these on ebay just to see how it would sell and to my great surprise and delight, it did.

They are a sweet and yummy no calorie dessert!
