Finally Finished

I have been working on this cute little bag for about a week now. I finally finished it. I had to revamp the handles and little loops a couple times, but I think I got it just the way I want it at last. That's the beauty part of being the designer, I get the final word, lol.

Anyway, I thought I might list this prototype on my Etsy shop for a low price and ask that whomever buys it will be so kind as to put it to use and give me some constructive criticism, some feedback on how it can be improved. But before I do that I would like some feedback on how the bag looks overall. Does it seem like a bag that people would like? You can click on the pictures to enlarge them and get a better look at this bag, if you want.

I have used the Swanky fabric collection by Chez Moi for Moda to construct the outside of the bag. There is prequilted white fabric for the inside. There is one pocket inside. There is a magnetic snap closure.

What I need now for this purse is a name. Got any ideas? As soon as I get this puppy named I will be listing it at my Etsy shop.

My Jelly Roll Tote

Here is a design I have been working on for a little while using jelly rolls strips. I have made several of these and gave them away as testers, this is the first one I have offered for sale. It is a sweet tote bag I constructed using Mary Engelbreit's Baskets of Flowers Jelly Roll from Moda.

I also made a little scrappy rag style flower brooch and pinned it on. It is removable. There is a magnetic snap closure, quilted lining and 2 inside pockets to match the outside. It measures 11"x13" with a 2" gusset, handle drop is 9.5".

I had a lot of fun designing and making this bag and will be making more Jelly Roll totes in the near future, so keep an eye out for those.

This tote is listed for sale at my Etsy shop, please go take a look.

And the Winner is....

We have a winner to my 1st ever giveaway!!

I know I was supposed to announce the winner last night, but....My husband decided to do some much needed yard work and pulled (or attempted to pull) a large bush out and with his shovel he quickly severed my cable. So I had no internet until just a little while ago when the repair man came. Oh those husbands, gotta love 'em.

I was also unable to wish everyone a happy Mother's Day, so better late than never: HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Anyway back to the news at hand. The winner of my giveaway, which includes a Moda charm pack and one of my folded fabric flowers is...

Patricia at Vintage Linen Treasures. Congratulations Patricia.

Thanks to everyone who visited, commented, and followed my blog. I appreciate it. I hope you continue to do so.

Here are a few of the squares in the charm pack that Patricia will receive. It is called Soiree by Lila Tueller for Moda. It is a beautiful collection. I also have these available at my Etsy shop.

And here is a picture of the brooch Patricia won. These are a new item I am developing and offering at my Etsy shop. I will offering these in various designs, sizes and colors, they will be made into brooches, refrigerator magnets, hairclips, headbands, and whatever else I come up with.

Swanky Hipster Messenger Bag

My daughter asked me one day to make her a hipster type messenger bag with a very long strap to wear across the body. I thought about that for awhile and came up with this, my version of a messenger bag, a mini messenger bag.

It is kinda cute if I do say so myself. You can grab it when you are just running out for a few errands or maybe going to the movies, a bike ride, for a walk, or a casual night out. It's perfect when you don't have a lot to carry.

I used the Swanky fabric line Jelly Roll by Chez Moi for Moda Fabrics to construct this bag. It is fully lined although it is a very light and thin bag, you'll hardly know its there.

It has a velcro closure and about a 52" strap so you can wear it across the body. The bag measures approx. 8"x8".

It is now available at my Etsy shop.

Spring Magic Tote

I finally finished this tote. I had a couple days there where I just didn't feel like doing a whole lot of anything. Actually now that I look at pictures of this tote, I'm thinking I will add a little scarf type thing to one of the handles. Then that would mean I'm still not done. It will be done this weekend, one way or another.

To make this tote I have used a fabric line called Spring Magic by April Cornell for Moda. I gave a preview of the charm packs on a previous post. It is a gorgeous collection. I also used this green tonal fabric for handles, tab, and back of tote. The inside is a cream colored quilted fabric.

This tote is about 10"x13.5" and has a 3" gusset. It has a quilted lining and 2 pockets inside. I also made a matching padded zipper pouch and key fob using the same fabric line.

I think I will be listing this for sale, either on ebay or my Etsy shop.

Pincushions! and Charm Packs

I love pincushions. I have several in my little craft studio that I have either made, was given or collected along the way.

This post has a dual purpose: one, to show you my new pincushions and two, to show you a charm pack that is new to my Etsy shop. And actually you will see why I am writing about both of these things in one post.

Here is one of my pincushions. I used an Oh Cherry Oh charm pack to make it. I have just added this charm pack to my shop. It is a sweetie! Designed by Me and My Sister for Moda. I love it! There is a sampling of this wonderful collection further down the post. I used 4 different squares to make my pincushion. It is also a new addition to my shop.

This is just a sampling of the goodies in the Oh Cherry charm pack.

My second pincushion is made with my Candy Kisses charm pack. I posted a preview of this charm pack a few days ago. You can view it here.

Both charm packs and pincushions are available at my Etsy shop.

Just look at this gorgeous fabric. This is called Spring Magic by April Cornell for Moda. I don't think it gets much prettier than this. I have this collection in charm packs for sale at my Etsy shop, but only a few left. You will be happy you bought this one.

In the next few days I will be finishing a tote bag made with this beautiful fabric, keep on the look out for that.

Love is in the Air

Another new arrival to my Etsy shop, a truly fun and inspiring collection from Deb Strain for Moda called Love is in the Air.

I have this beautiful set in layer cakes only, so get them while you can, they are running out.

A layer cake is made up of usually 40 squares measuring 10"x10" each. Usually they contain 1 square of each design offered in the entire line.

Do you know how to cut a layer cake? See my side bar for instructions. Also look for the Moda Bake Shop button in my side bar for great ideas on what to do with layer cakes.
